The backpack with coffee dyed and oil leather
これは「レザークラフト教室」の受講生さんの作品です。コーヒーで染めた帆布とオイルレザーを丁寧に縫い合わせて作られたリュックです。

This is the work of my student in ‘Leather Craft Class’. She made a backpack by carefully sewing the canvas and oil leather. The canvas was dyed with coffee by her.
布の部分は、実はどの色もコーヒーで染めたものですが、鉄や銅、アルミにチタンと媒染を変えて色の違いを表現しています。一見すると全く異なった色ですが、もとは同じコーヒーで染めているだけあって、こうしてパッチワークにしてもとても調和とれた雰囲気を醸し出してくれます。これこそが草木染め（天然染料）の魅力！ とても素晴らしい作品ができました。これからもいいものを作ってください。楽しみにしています！
The difference in color is the difference between mordants. She used copper, aluminum and titanium as a mordant. At first glance it is totally different color, but originally it is dyed with the same coffee, so it makes a very harmonious atmosphere even if it makes patchwork like this. This especiallyis the charm of botanical dye (natural dye)!
