Hello, everyone! I’m Kaki.
The last blog, Snow City, tells the scenery I saw and the excitement I felt on my way to the Sabae. Next, we will step into the theme of this trip, to introduce the glasses manufacturing industry in Sabae, Fukui Prefecture.
There are two tasks for our trip that day. One is to visit the city’s representative industry―― the factory of glasses manufacturing, and the other is to look for some interesting items that are being created with glasses materials.
Firstly, we visited the Plusjack’s factory. Plusjack is mainly engaged in the production of glasses frames and the processing of acetate（one of the main raw materials for glasses frames）. The president was very kind and showed us around the factory personally.
There, for the first time, I saw the unprocessed acetate fiberboard and was amazed at its rich color and pattern. The processed acetate fibers are so transparent and have the gemstone-like color and luster.
In addition, the president also introduced the main process of glasses making for us. The craftsmen insert the metal core into the heated frame properly, polish the frames patiently and use tiny screws to assemble the legs, nose pads, etc. Every step must be delicate and precise.
I see! Only in this way can they create the world-famous high-quality products. And that is why Hitotsuya wants to let more people know about the “Sabae Glasses” through our own way.
Next time, let me introduce various items that are being created with glasses materials.
