India indigo
数年前の春にペン先のほどの種をプランターに蒔きました。

I planted very small seeds in a planter in the spring of a few years ago.
しばらくすると、双葉が出てスクスクと生長するはずだったのですが、ネットで調べても育て方が分からず、枯らしてしまいそうになったこともあります。
After a while I had thought that small leaves will come out and grow up smoothly. I searched the cultivation method on the Internet, but I could not find it and it were beginning to wilt.
それでも、なんとか回復して夏には花を咲かせ、たくさんの種を付けてくれました。
After that it get better, flowers bloomed in the summer, and I had got many seeds.
しかし、本来は熱帯の植物――。冬になれば、室内に移しても葉が落ちて次々に枯れてしまいました。もうダメかと思っていましたが、今年の春になって気温が上がってくると、三つの株から新たな芽が吹き出し、どうやら冬越ししたようです。夏には随分と大きくなり、少し涼しくなった先日、切り戻しを兼ねて“初の収穫”をし、染料を作り始めました。
This is a tropical plant. So, in the winter, even if I moved to indoor, the leaves fell and withered one after another. I thought that it withered. However, as the temperature rose in the spring of this year, new shoots came out from the three roots. Apparently it seems to have passed the winter. After that it became quite large in the summer. And I started making dye with it that the other day.
そう！ これがインド藍です。
You have guessed right. This is India indigo.
インド藍で沈澱藍（泥藍）を作るのは初めてです。例年、蓼藍（たであい）で作っているのと同じ要領でいいのか!? ちょっと不安もありますが、このまま作業を続けます。またの機会に結果を報告しますね。
I am the first time to make “precipitated indigo(indigo cake)” with this plant. I try in the same way as I make it with Japanese indigo. Anyway, I will try making precipitated indigo in the way I know. At a later date, I will report the results.
