On August 13, we prepared our Obon offerings with a small watermelon and vegetables grown at home, together with “Hitotsuya cocoons.” It was a summer day spent telling our ancestors how we are living now.
After a long-awaited summer shower, the heat eased, insects began their evening chorus, and the air at Hitotsuya slowly loosened into a quiet summer moment.
Warm summer greetings from Hitotsuya(ひとつ屋). A beautiful water lily has bloomed again this year, as our summer days continue with natural dyeing and the colors of plants.
The Rose of Sharon bloomed again in the garden of our old folk house workshop. Watching it flower again and again made me think about the future of Hitotsuya.
A strange feeling before something starts to move. Perhaps past doubts and failures have become wisdom for the future. Before a business trip to Maebashi, I record where Hitotsuya and I stand now.
