In an earlier post, Something I Want to Try (Japanese page), I wrote that I wanted to use designs created for dyeing stencils in new forms of making at Hitotsuya（ひとつ屋）.
This time, I decided to use laser-cut ironwork to create something for the workshop.
The design is based on a grapevine-scroll motif composed of vines, leaves and bunches of grapes. The motif is also introduced in the Nara National Museum’s official glossary entry on grapevine scrolls.

This is an iron window grille—in other words, a metal fence fitted outside a window.

I wanted something a little more decorative for this window, so I decided to make the grille myself.
I will do my best to make it, so please look forward to seeing how it turns out!!
