Kakishibu dyeing gradually develops deeper tones as it is exposed to sunlight and air. Since I first wrote about “How to Make Kakishibu (Persimmon Tannin)”, working with kakishibu has become part of my seasonal routine.
Today is exactly the kind of day made for kakishibu dyeing—a perfect “kakishibu day.”

The persimmons in the garden have grown considerably, too. The kiwifruit will also be ready to harvest soon.
