Instructor Announcement | Machi Labo Summer School 2026 “Natural-Dyed Tote Bag Workshop”
Hitotsuya Natural Dyeing Studio will serve as the workshop instructor for a natural dyeing program at “Machi Labo Summer School 2026,” organized by the General Incorporated Association Thera Projects.
The program we will lead this time is “Natural-Dyed Tote Bag Workshop” for elementary school students. Children will dye their own tote bags using onion skins.

Natural dyeing is a handcraft that transfers colors found in plants onto fabric. Even when using the same plant, the color can vary slightly depending on the dyeing method, the condition of the fabric, and the conditions of the day.
In this workshop, children will not only experience the joy of natural dyeing and the wonder of colors from nature, but also think about food, waste, and environmental issues as they create their own original tote bags.
This program is also recommended for summer vacation research projects and hands-on craft experiences.
