Cloves 100g are a natural plant dye for botanical dyeing.
Cloves are the unopened flower buds of the clove tree in the myrtle family, dried before use. They are widely known as a spice and have a distinctive sweet, deep fragrance.
The clove tree is native to Indonesia’s Maluku Islands. Cloves have long been used as a spice, fragrance material, and traditional medicinal material.
For dyeing, the dried buds are simmered to prepare the dye bath. Their aroma spreads through the workspace, allowing you to enjoy both color and fragrance while dyeing.
In Japan, dyeing with cloves has long been associated with choji-zome and ko-zome, traditional fragrant dyeing. The resulting calm yellow-brown shades are also recognized among traditional Japanese colors.
We hope you will enjoy the distinctive color and fragrance of cloves.

◆ About Hitotsuya Plant Dyes
The plant dyes offered by Hitotsuya(ひとつ屋) include materials traditionally sold as herbal medicines, as well as plants grown at our Hitotsuya Dye Farm, where we cultivate plants used for dyeing and weaving.
We grow our plants with as little pesticide and chemical fertilizer as possible. Although we take great care, small insects may occasionally be mixed in. This does not affect their quality as dye materials.
We hope these materials will support your safe and natural creative work.
