Today, for the first time in a while, we had a summer shower.
The air had been above 35°C since morning, but after the rain the temperature dropped by more than 10°C at once. The heat that had clung to us only moments before quietly receded, and it became comfortable enough to turn off the air conditioner.
When I opened the window, the insects began a great chorus, as though they had been waiting for the air to cool.
The scent after rain. The deep green of wet trees. The sound of leaves moving in the cool breeze. And the voices of insects.
It was a time when a body slightly tired by the daytime heat could slowly unwind.
A quiet pause in the cool breeze.
These ordinary moments are one of the pleasures of a summer evening.
