一年で最も好きな“風薫る季節”になりました。この時季になると、必ず染めるのが蓬（よもぎ）です。今年も、染めました。ウールは、とても美しく染まります。身近な植物なので、ぜひ！チャレンジしてみてください。

May is a very pleasant climate in Japan. It’s the best season! I like May the best of the 12 months. For example, it will sprout on various plants in May, which is one of the reasons. At this time of year, I always dye wool with mugwort. Mugwort is a familiar plant for Japanese people. We use it as an ingredient in traditional sweets and as a medicine. If you dye the wool with mugwort, you can get a very deep green color. If you have mugwort around you, try dyeing wool！

コロナが収まれば、ひとつ屋のリニューアルオープンと兼ねて、人生初の個展でもしようかな～ッ!? と思っています。あくまで「かな～!?」ですが—😅 それでも、少しずつ作品を作っています。今、制作しているのが、さまざまな植物で四色に染め分けた糸を撚らずに織ったマフラーです。まだ途中ですが、とても趣あるものになってきました。もう少し頑張って織り上げます。

When the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) is over, I plan to reopen my shop and hold my first solo exhibition in my life. But It’s just a “plan” — 😅 Still, I’m making works little by little. Now, I’m making a scarf that is woven without twisting threads that are dyed in four colors with various plants. It’s still on the way, but it’s very wonderful！ I am look forward to completion.

なぜか？ 少し前から中国の武人を扱ったＴシャツを作ってみたいと思っていました。「どうして？」と問われれば、「なぜか？」としか返答のしようがありません。そんなおり、ネットショップで「鍾馗様」の伊勢型紙を見つけました。鍾馗様は唐(中国)の皇帝・玄宗の夢に現れ、その難を救ったそうです。そんな鍾馗様とのコラボで、ちょっとエキゾチックなTシャツを染めてみます。お楽しみに！

I wanted to make a T-shirt with a Chinese knight motif from before. When asked “Why?”, I can only answer ” I don’t” know. At that time, I found an Japanese traditional printing modelIse of Chinese knight at an online shop. This knight appeared in the dream of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang (China) and healed his illness. I will dye a slightly exotic T-shirt using such a Chinese knight.

いよいよ販売用のＴシャツの試作を始めました。まずは、型染（藍の抜染）です。しかし、若いころには湯水のごとく沸いたデザインやアイデアも、この歳になると枯渇ぎみで一つ一つに時間がかかってしまいます。
でも、悪いことばかりでもありません。がさつな若いころにはできなかった手間や時間をかけた作品づくりが今はできます。
これらのＴシャツのデザインも、もう少し吟味し、よいものにしたいと思っています 。

I’ve been  indigo dyeing T-shirts with models to make Japanese traditional prints. When I was young, various designs and ideas came up one after another, but now it takes time for each one. However, I would like to spend time and effort creating works that I could not do when I was young.
