    もはや夢でも構想でもありません！

    今夏、ひとつ屋スタッフのビジャ君と、彼の母国ネパールに行って発注してきた木製自動織機（力織機）が、ついに完成しました！いよいよ日本へ向けて出航します。いよいよ、これを使って製品づくりを始めます！もはや夢でも構想でもありません。これまで絶え間なく考えてきたことを土台に、産業革命時代の思想を引き継いだ器械で、新たな物づくりを始めます。正直いってビビっています――😨 そして、それ以上にドキドキ＆ワクワクが止まりません！

    This summer, I traveled to Nepal — the home country of our Hitotsuya staff member, Bija — and personally ordered a wooden power loom. That loom has now finally been completed! It is about to be shipped to Japan. And at Hitotsuya, we are about to begin product-making using this very machine. This is no longer a dream or a conceptual idea. Based on everything we have been thinking through relentlessly until now, we are starting a new form of making — using a machine that carries forward the spirit of the Industrial Revolution. To be honest, I’m nervous 😨 But even more than that, I can’t stop feeling excited and thrilled!

    昨日に引き続き、今秋(2022)開催予定の展覧会に出品するための作品づくりです。コットン ＆ 芭蕉の糸を藍で染め、綾織りにして小さなバッグに仕立てようと思っています。ところが、かなり久しぶりの織物なので、何となく感覚が戻ってきません――。まずはリハビリを兼ねて作業を進めます。

    I am working on a work to exhibit at an exhibition scheduled to be held this fall today too. I am thinking of dyeing threads made of cotton and banana fibers with indigo, twilling them, and sewing them into small bag. However, it’s been a long time since I’ve weaved, so I can’t get the sense of work back. First of all, I’m going to get used to the weaving work and then proceed with other work.

    芭蕉と綿の混紡糸を藍で三色に染め分け、テーブルランナーを織ろうと思っています。経糸はできたものの、横糸にどんなものを使おうか!?🤔と悩んでいます。綾織にする予定なのですが、横糸の色や太さ、間隔など、経糸の雰囲気を生かすにはどうしたらよいのか—？試案中です。
    I’m going to weave a table runner. The yarn is a blend of cotton and banana fibers and is dyed in three colors with indigo. I have made warp yarns, but I am wondering what kind of weft yarns to use 🤔 I’m planning to made twill weave, but I’m carefully thinking about how to make the most of the atmosphere of the warp yarns, such as the color, thickness, and spacing of the weft yarns.

    草木染めした毛糸が余っています。ストールやマフラーを織った後の余りなので、少しずつ太さや量が異なります。せっかくの手紡ぎでもあるので捨てるのももったいなく、なにか織ろうと思っています。
