草木染の糸のなかでも、特に人気があるのがインドアカネで染めた真っ赤な毛糸です。春になり、毛糸の季節も終わろうとしていますが、在庫がなくなったので、追加で染めています――。インドアカネを煮出したときには真っ赤だった染液が毛糸に吸われ、時間とともに透明になっていきます。改めて「すごいなぁ～」と感じます。

In our shop, the most popular plant-dyed yarn is the bright red wool dyed with Indian madder. It’s spring, and the wool season is about to end, but I’m running out of stock, so I’m dyeing more. When Indian madder is boiled out, the dyeing liquid, which was bright red, is absorbed by the yarn and becomes transparent over time. Once again, I feel that it is amazing.

まだまだ寒い日が続きますが、水仙が咲き、遠くに春の気配が感じられるようになりました。そこで、春らしい作品を作ろうかと思い、毛糸を「香茅（こうぼう）」で明るい緑に染めました。薄いピンクや黄色の糸と合わせてショールでも織ろうかと考えています。
香茅はレモングラスと同じ仲間で、その文字どおり、さわやかな香りがあります。色と香りが楽しめる染料なので、ぜひ！染めてみてください。

It’s still cold days, but the daffodils are blooming and I can feel the signs of spring in the distance. So, I decided to make something that looks like spring, so I dyed the yarn a bright green with “Kobo”. I’m thinking of weaving a shawl with light pink and yellow threads.
“Kobo” is a member of the same family as lemongrass and has a refreshing scent. It’s a dye that can enjoy color and scent, so please! Try dyeing it.

I tried tie-dyeing with natural red iron oxide and ocher. I’m planning to exhibit at an exhibition about kimono (Japanese traditional clothing) in the spring, and I’m thinking of making a work for that purpose. However, this is the first time for me to attend a full-fledged kimono exhibition, so I am actually very nervous. I’m planning to challenge myself with a slightly different work, so please look forward to it.
