先日、知人からこんなものをいただきました。

昔話に登場しそうな糸車（いとぐるま）です。これで木綿（コットン）の綿（わた）から糸を作ります。
This is a antique japanese spinning wheel. Our grandmothers spun cotton using this.
でも、いろんな部品は失われ壊れている部分もあります。
This is very old, so many parts are lost and some parts are broken.
もちろん、修理して使おうとは思っていますが、それより、こうして見ているだけで、うっとりするほど美しいです。
I will repair this and use it. But it is very beautiful just by looking and will entertain me.
木と竹でだけで、しかも農家の人が、よくもこんなに繊細で精巧なものが作れたもんだと、本当に感嘆させられます。
This spinning wheel was made with wood and bamboo by ordinary farmers. It is very beautiful and sophisticated. I am admired by the dexterity of old Japanese people.
