藍染めの原理を簡単にいうと、還元した色の成分が繊維の上で酸化し、藍色に変化しています。つまりは酸化・還元の作用なのですが、色の成分を還元するときに灰を水に溶いた灰汁（あく）を使います。しかし、この灰汁が残っていると藍色が濁ってしまうので、ひとつ屋では染色後に灰汁抜きの作業を行っています。お湯にしばらく浸すだけですが、ご覧のとおり、お湯が黄色くなるほど灰汁が出ます。せっかくの手づくりなので、ひと手間かけたいいものを作っていきたいと願っています。
To put it simply, the principle of indigo dyeing is that the reduced color components oxidize on the fibers and change to indigo. In other words, it is a redox action. Alkali is used to reduce the color components. However, if this alkali remains, the indigo color becomes cloudy, so we perform the alkali removal work after dyeing. Just soak it in hot water for a while, but as you can see, the more yellow the hot water, the more alkali is discharged. We hope that we will continue to make good products that take a lot of effort.
